Sri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing is one
of the most modern equipped nursing colleges in Punjab. It is widely
recognized as a center of excellence in the field of nursing education
with excellent in job training facilities in North Zone.
The institution has a highly qualified
and experienced Faculty. The college has well-equipped laboratories of
fundamentals of Nursing, Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health with Latest
equipment. Laboratories of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Microbiology
of Medical College are also used for B.Sc. Nursing Students.
There is a well-equipped separate Library
for Nursing Students with all the Modern Facilities. The Library has 2000
books and 18 National & International Nursing Journals. In addition there
is main Library in the hospital, which is equipped with a large number of
professional books and journals. Nursing candidates can also use the main
Library.
The college has well ventilated
classrooms with modern facilities, to enhance academic activities like
lectures, Seminars etc. The Institute has good audio-visual aids with T.V.,
D.V.D. player, Overhead projector with white screens, models and charts
for the use of faculty and students.
The college possesses good and
comfortable accommodation for girls with all the facilities, round the
clock security, entertainment, boarding and mess. Hostel rooms have
attached bathroom and geysers and safe drinking water is available for
students.
The School of
Nursing was started in the year 2001 with intake of 40 students. Number of seats
was increased to 60 and since then many batches have successfully
completed their training.
The college of nursing came into existence
in 2008 with the intake of 50 students. College of
Nursing got permission from Government of Punjab and consent of Baba Farid
University of Health Sciences and applied to Indian Nursing Council for
inspection to start post Basic B.Sc. (N) Course. The
Clinical teaching of Nursing Students is conducted at both
Sri Guru
Ram Das Charitable
Hospital which is 400 bedded in the heart of Sri Amritsar city near Sri Darbar
Sahib (Golden
Temple) & Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Vallah, which are 615 bedded.
The hospital is having all the latest equipments and facilities for
Nursing Students.
The Institution has come up by dint of
hard work and sincere efforts of management staff, employees and also the
cooperation of students. Above all, central and state government and many
of their dignitaries deserve gratitude from the management for their
co-operation.
